We love how long-lasting and smooth waxing can make your skin feel! Let’s go over three things you should be doing (or not doing) after every waxing service for smooth, healthy skin!

Tip #1: Skip Pools, Beaches, and Hot Tubs for 24 hours

This one may be a surprise, but after getting waxed your skin can become easily irritated. Skipping the pool, beach, or hot tub for at least 24 hours after receiving a wax can help reduce any potential irritations for various reasons.

Both pools and beaches can be extremely drying to the skin. In addition to the drying, pools also contain chemicals like chlorine, which overall is no bueno while your skin is healing from a wax. Lastly, hot tubs are not good simply because of the excessive heat.

Tip #2: Don’t exfoliate for 2-3 days

Getting a wax induces trauma to your skin and traumatising it further by exfoliating too soon can do more harm than good. Your body is always trying to heal itself, so post wax aftercare is very important. After getting a wax, your skin may be easily irritable or slightly inflamed showing some redness. Introducing an exfoliant, where physical or chemical, too soon can cause adverse reactions like hyperpigmentation or skin discoloration.

So, it’s best to skip exfoliating your skin for a few days post-service to allow your body to regulate and become less irritated. We recommend waiting for 3 days post-wax before exfoliating again, but do what feels safe for your body.

Tip #3: Keep Your Skin Hydrated

Post waxing aftercare includes moisturized skin! Moisture balance is very important to retaining healthy skin! At Femmi, we sell products to help clients keep their skin moisturized depending on their skin type. And when it comes to various body parts, this still holds true. Keeping your skin moisturized not only helps the healing process, but it encourages elasticity, can improve texture, and help rid us of specific skin concerns (depending on what product you use). Remember, keeping your skin hydrated will help it heal in the long run and keep your skin smooth and healthy.
